The Nurtured Heart Approach is a highly effective and widely acclaimed set of strategies developed originally for children with challenging behaviors to facilitate parenting and classroom success that has now evolved to being used in numerous aspects of parenting, education and treatment – from couple’s work to individual treatment, as a whole class and whole school interventions running the gamut from applications to high schools to early childhood programs, from work in the treatment of addictions to work with Autism, Asperger’s and ADHD, from use in placements such as group homes and residential treatment to use among foster/adopt programs and even now with returning military.
These methods have helped thousands of families to transform their child from using their intensity in primarily negative ways to using their intensity in beautifully creative and constructive ways. This approach has also helped teachers and other school personnel to have a dramatically positive effect on normal and gifted children. One of our basic premises is that greatness is in everyone and it can be easily awakened with an approach that has the right levels of intention, power and aligned energy.
Most ordinary methods of parenting, treatment and teaching inadvertently backfire when applied to people with intensity despite the best of intentions. Most methods accidentally reward the existing problems and problematic relationships by demonstrating evidence of richer connection and more alive energy when things are going wrong in contrast to our typically low key responses when they are living their life successfully. The Nurtured Heart Approach is a powerful and quick way to create a new scenario of success. This approach is fully described in several books, among them Transforming the Difficult Child, The Nurtured Heart Approach, You are Oprah – Igniting the Fires of Greatness, All Children Flourishing – Igniting the Greatness of Our Children, Notching Up the Nurtured Heart Approach – The New Inner Wealth Initiative for Educators, as well as workbooks teaching this method.
We are so happy that you have found the Nurtured Heart Approach and we hope to successfully share every bit of what we know to work.
